Daniel Hernandez, born May 8, 1996, is an American rapper from America. He is also known as Tekashi69 and 6ix9ine (pronounced "six-nine") His music has been marked by an aggressive style of rapping, and his public image is defined by his distinctive hair color, numerous tattoos, legal issues and publicized celebrity feuds. Hernandez was first known for his debut single "Gummo", which was a surprise smash. The mixtape was released later on Day69 (2018) and it was followed by the singles "Kooda", "Keke" and "Gotti", each of which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. "Fefe" was a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz, a single from his debut album Dummy Boy (2018), reached the top spot at #3 on the Hot 100. Despite the negative reaction, Dummy Boy was made platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2015, Hernandez pleaded guilty to a felony count of use of a child during a sexual performance and received an eight-year period of probation and a 1,000-hour community service order. Hernandez was also charged with racketeering, weapons and drug charges in 2018. He was sentenced to 47 years in prison and pleaded guilty in February 2019 to nine charges including conspiracy to commit murder and burglary with a weapon. Hernandez was a witness during the trial and sentenced to two years in prison. He was released before the COVID-19 epidemic in April 2020 due to his asthma-related illness. For the rest of his sentence, he was put under house arrest, and was released in August of 2020. His single "Gooba", which he got out of prison, reached third place in the US. "Trollz", his third collaboration reached the top spot at number one in the US. His second album, TattleTales 2020 (2020), debuted at the number four spot on the US Billboard 200. As an eye witness for the prosecution during the Nine Trey Gangsters trial, Hernandez was almost universally criticized and shunned by other members of the hip-hop industry. While he has had some commercial successes following his release from prison, Hernandez has effectively been blacklisted from major streaming services and radio stations.
